Marden Village
The village of Marden is eight miles (13km) from the county town of Maidstone. The parish church was built at the end of the 12th century. Marden is in the middle of the rich farmland of the weald, and has many orchards, oast houses and period buildings surrounding the village.
The rural village has a few shops and amenities including, hairdressers, barbers, general stores, post office, country pubs, butchers, chemist, bakery, several restaurants and take-aways. You are also able to explore other surrounding villages like Goudhurst, Cranbrook, Headcorn, Biddenden, where you can find antique shops, tea and cake shops etc.
The Mainline station is only 7 minutes walk. London is only 50 mins away, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Ashford and Canterbury are only few stops on the train, if you require retail therapy and to visit theatre land. Catch the Eurostar at Ashford for a day trip to France.
Local attractions: Bedgebury Forest with award winning walking, riding and mountain biking. Bewl Water largest lake in the region for walks, boating, sailing, fishing and mountain biking. Multiple National Trust castles and stately homes, Leeds Castle Henry VIII’s favourite castle and thought by many to be the most beautiful in the world. For shopping, Ashford Designer Outlet and Bluewater Shopping Centre are within 30 mins drive. One of Britain’s finest beaches, Camber Sands 30 mins drive away which next to historic medieval port of Rye which makes a great little day trip. Numerous excellent gastro-pubs and a reasonably priced Michelin Star restaurant. Local vineyards for tours and tastings.
